Easter Egg Sort For Toddlers & Babies

As our Little Man gets older, he is becoming more and more interested in what Little Miss is doing. Giving him his own activities helps to satisfy his curiosity and gives him something to do alongside his big sister. A couple years ago, I picked up these plastic egg holder trays from Walmart for 98 cents because I just knew that I could use them for something and the day finally came.  While I set this activity up for Little Man 13 months, both him and his sister were able to enjoy this in different ways alongside each other and both of them had a great time.

The goal for Little Man was to take the eggs and add them to the egg holders, much like the muffin tin and ball activities you may have seen all over Pinterest and Facebook. He loved doing this and when he was done they quickly became balls. Everything and anything that can be thrown is a ball in his book.

I have quickly realized that even if I have a different activity set up for Little Miss, she will often want to complete what brother is doing. Instead of just adding the eggs to the holder, she got to sort the eggs into the three holders by color, something that she does really well with, but never hurts to continue practicing. It was very interesting to hear her process because she quickly realized that there wasn’t egg holders for several of the color of eggs that were in her basket. She simply put them back into the basket and found another egg.

While simple, both kids were able to play alongside each other and complete the activity in their own way, quickly followed by lots of egg aka ball throwing and spreading across the playroom floor. It wouldn’t be fun if they couldn’t do that afterwards Smile
