I absolutely love documenting important times in our life. I am a picture taking mama, but I do also love a good keepsake and love having a way to document and hold onto all of the things that we do during our school days. I wanted a way to preserve these memories so I created a cute little School memory keeping binder and I am excited to share it with you today.
You can set this binder up super quickly and will have it ready to go for years to come. The best part-it's now editable in Canva which makes editing all your own children's information a breeze.

Setting Up Your Memory Book Keepsake

SET UP
The School Memory Book is an editable Canva file which allows you to change years, dates, pictures, and name to customize this for each of your children.On the cover page you will be able to customize your child's name and the year of their graduation. Once printed, you can slip it into the front cover of a 3 ring binder.
The next three pages are for adding your child's personal information and pictures for the new school year.
The first of these three pages is a grade specific page and this file includes pages for tiny tot school, tot school, preschool, and kindergarten through twelfth grades. You can include your child on their first day of that year, as well as include some personal information about their year, like their first day of school date, age, teacher etc. The text and picture frame are all editable.
The next one has "First Day of School" on it and includes places to add some more pictures.
The third page is meant for the end of the school year (or throughout) to highlight pictures and events/learning from the year.
What to Include in the School Memory Keepsake Book
At various points in our homeschool journey I have kept different things in our memory book.
In addition to the three pages above, I have always included a First Day of School Questionnaire and a Handprint Keepsake craft. The cute saying was from something I saw Carla at Everyday Learn and Play share. Y'all I am determined to continue with both activities until my kids have graduated, even if their handprint grows bigger than the page. Haha This mama loves a good handprint keepsake.
As more formal learning has started happening, I have started adding different samples of their work as well. The best thing about keepsakes and memories is you get to decide what to include.
Year after year the binder gets more pages added and its one of my and my kids' favorite things to look through on the first day of school. It's so fun to see how many things stay the same, but also change as we look back over their First Day Questionnaires.

First Day of School Traditions
One of the many things we do on the first day of school, in addition to all the activities above, is have a First Day of School breakfast. You can read more about all of our traditions here.I always print a First Day of School Poster, that matches the theme of our School Memory Book, and display it as part of our table set up. I wanted to share the First Day of School poster with you as well as a last day of school poster too. The file is editable in Canva so that you can change the date to the day you are starting school. I personally save these each year and it's fun to look back through and see when we started school over the years.
