Nature Shapes

Spring has finally sprung and we have been spending many of our days outside enjoying the beautiful weather. We have also been taking our learning outside and finding unique ways to practice shapes.

We have collected rocks for quite some time now and it came in handy the one morning at the start of shape week when it was super rainy. We were able to use our rock collection and some big chart paper and created this fun loose parts shape trace using rocks.

Little Miss loved this and did it over and over again for more than an hours. This would be so much fun on a larger scale outside on the driveway. Take some sidewalk chalk draw some shapes and find things outside to trace.

We also had some time outside after coming home from running errands one of the days and Little Man had fallen asleep in the car. Instead of risking waking him, we let him sleep while Little Miss ran off some energy. When she started picking the tops off of the field of dandelions our front yard seems to be this time of year, we put them to use and started making shapes on the driveway.

These are just two simple ways you can use nature and incorporate it into your learning at any time. These were not a part of our plans, but they became one of our favorite activities. I love when that happens.
