Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Family Movie Day

We ended our Weather Preschool Unit with a Family Day consisting of fun activities, food, and then a family movie night watching the Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs movie.

This was such a fun way to end our weather unit and the kids had such a great day which makes it all worth it. This was one of those movie night adventures that went from just a family dinner and movie and became and all day event. This was so much fun to put together and I followed the "rules" of hosting a family movie night.

Since this became an all day event, the kids woke to find the living room all set up and ready to go for our fun and learning throughout the day.

For decorations, the children got to experience their own town of Chewandswallow. I used some tissue paper clouds and rain drops we have had as decorations for our Weather unit and attached them to the wall in our playroom and then taped some plastic play food to the wall. This was a fun and simple decoration and since we already had to clouds and raindrops on hand, it was super quick too. I grabbed different things that I had on hand like my checkered tablecloth and our tabletop chalkboard to add variety and color to the decorations.

For our movie days, I love incorporating at least one activity into day. For today, I set up a Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Sensory Bin for the kids to play with. I included cut up pieces of yellow yarn, play food, pom poms, and some "pasta" play utensils. 

Another activity that would be super fun to include in your day is this Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs themed measuring and counting activity. We had already done it as part of our Weather Unit, but the kids have loved getting it out and playing with it regularly since.

We dined on movie themed foods all throughout the day. For breakfast the kids enjoyed some bananostriches made of bananas and grapes. We snacked on strawberry Berry's, enjoyed a delectable dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, and finished it off with "meatballs" aka chocolate covered peanut butter balls. The "meatballs" were my absolute favorite part of the whole day. They turned out so stinking cute and the kids thought they were hilarious. 

It was the best family day watching Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2. (We usually only watch one movie, but this one called for both.)
