4th of July Activity Mat for Kids

4th of July Themed Activity Mat for Kids

Even during summer, I love to set up fun learning invitations for my kids and love to incorporate learning into our Independence Day Learning adventures. Nothing super over the top, but just something simple and fun and my kids have always loved to wake up to find an activity mat awaiting them to complete. Today I am sharing a look at some of our Independence Day Activity mats we have done throughout the years.

Independence Activity Mat Ideas For Kids

Just like I say with all of our Activity Mat activities, you do not have to be super crafty or go over the top to put one together. You can use things that you have on hand or things that you were planning on doing already and just set it up in a mat format.

4th of July Activity Mat Number One

For this activity Mat, I set up 4 crafty activities to do as part of our celebrations.

Festive Fireworks

For this activity, I used some paper towel rolls and cut little slits in the one end of them and flayed them out that that they would look like a firework once dipped in paint and stamped on the paper. This was the kids favorite activity.

You're A Grand Ol Flag

For this activity, I gave the kids our red and blue dot markers and they used them to fill in the flag appropriately.

Festive Paper Straw Necklaces

For this activity, I cut up a couple different colors of Independence Day Themed paper straws and string and the kids used them to create their own festive necklaces. This activity was perfect for practicing those fine motor skills.

Tear Paper Star

For this activity, I left out larger chunks of construction paper and a white construction paper star and a glue stick. The kids tore pieces of the red and blue paper and glued it to the white star to make a patriotic star craft. Tearing paper is perfect for refining fine motor skills and pincer grasp.

Independence Day Activity Mat Two

A different year, a new activity mat. I love how each activity mat doesn't have to look the same nor include the same types of activities.

For this year, I wanted to make sure we talked about the significance of what we were celebrating so we did some reading of stories and completed my Independence Day Flip Book Activity after we learned some about Independence Day.

We played a Patriotic Bingo game that i found for free by searching Pinterest, dressed up in patriotic leis, read some books, decorated a large American flag, and created some fun crafts which included Paper Plate Balloon Paddles and Popsicle Stick Stars complete with Red, White, and Blue ribbon strings.

The kids had so much fun with these activities and providing them on an activity mat made it extra special. If you give activity mats a try, I would love if shared them and tagged me on Instagram so I can see. @letsplaylearngrow
