Popcorn Themed Activity Mat for Kids

 

This popcorn themed activity mat is simple, yet full of fun engaging playful activities for your young learners to practice key skills like counting, letter and number identification, and letter discrimination. You can do these activities any day, but we did these in coordination with National Popcorn Day in January, because even the silly "national" holidays are fun to celebrate. 

National Popcorn Day Activity Mat for Kids

But each time, your kids will have so much fun. 

Popcorn Letter Matching

For this activity, I drew a giant popcorn bucket on the page and some popcorn bubbles which I then wrote letters inside of. I printed out some popped popcorn images with letters in them and placed them in a popcorn cup. Miss 3 would pick a piece of popcorn out of the popcorn cup and then match it to the popcorn letter that I drew on the mat. She continued with this until all of the popcorn was covered. 

 

Trace Letter Pp With Popcorn

I drew out a Letter P in little circles for Miss 3 to trace and she used popcorn kernels to trace it. 

Counting Popcorn Kernels

I used some cute little striped candy/treat boxes and wrote numbers 1-4 on each one. I would call out a number for Miss 3 to count to and she would then take the popcorn kernels and place the corresponding amount in the boxes. 

It was a super simple setup but she loved all of the activities and it helped her practice valuable skills in a fun way.
